Tales of the Gods

The Two Demons Shiva Made Himself

She put her hands over his eyes as a joke, and the worlds went dark, and something formed in the sweat that ran off her hands.

The two most dangerous asuras Shiva ever faced came out of his own body, and one of them he made by chance.

The one born from a joke

Parvati came up behind him on Mandara and put her hands over his eyes.

It was affection, the ordinary gesture anyone makes. But his eyes are the sun and the moon. Covering them put out the light of the worlds.

And every living thing was suddenly standing in the dark. Then the third eye opened on his brow to make up for it.

Its heat came down on the backs of her hands. And she began to sweat.

The sweat ran off her hands, charged with the fire of that eye and with her own power in it.

And where it fell, it became a child.
