In 1819 a British officer hunting tiger in a ravine saw a doorway in the cliff above him.
The Waghora river runs through a gorge in the Sahyadris, in what is now Aurangabad district. The cliff bends around it in a horseshoe.
In 1819 a horse officer of the Madras army was out after tiger there. His name was John Smith.
