Tales of the Gods
A teacher is asked what gift would repay years of teaching. He asks for his dead son back.
He had already lifted a mountain. He went to school anyway.
Kamsa was dead. The childhood among the cowherds was over. Krishna and Balarama were in Mathura now, in a different chapter of their lives entirely.
And their family did what any family of standing did with two boys of that age.
They sent them to a teacher.
The teacher was Sandipani, of Avantipura. Ujjain.
The brothers arrived at his gate as any other students would. To be taught things they could, by every reasonable measure, be assumed already to know.
This is a pattern that runs the whole length of Krishna's life, and it is easy to walk past.
