The Day the World Learned to Speak

Creation was complete, but something essential was missing, the world had form, but no voice. One goddess's arrival changed that forever.

According to the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Brahma had done his work as creator well. He had shaped the earth, the waters, the plants, the animals, and the first humans. Everything that was meant to exist, existed. And yet, when Brahma looked upon what he had made, he sensed something was wrong. His creation was complete in form but empty in expression. There was no music. There was no speech carrying meaning. There was no way for anything he had made to communicate, to teach, or to be understood.

A world without a voice, however beautifully built, was not truly finished.
