The Curse That Fell for a Few Distracted Moments

Two heavenly musicians lost themselves in each other for a matter of moments during an important performance. It cost them everything, until an accident of devotion gave it all back.

Pushpavati and Malyavan were gandharvas, heavenly musicians who served in Indra's own court, filling his gatherings with music. Their talent had earned them a place of real standing among the heavenly attendants. They were trusted to perform at the most important of Indra's own occasions.

One day, Indra's court gathered for an important assembly. Pushpavati and Malyavan were called upon, as they often were, to provide music for the occasion. But this particular day, something distracted them from their duty. They were caught up with each other, rather than with the performance they had been trusted to give. They lost track of the timing their music was meant to keep, and the assembly fell into disorder because of it.
