The Great Epics
An old grudge survived long enough to put on armor.
Three generations of one family spent their lives repaying a single kick delivered in front of a crowd.
It began at the swayamvara of Devaki, Krishna's mother, long before any of the principals of the Mahabharata were born.
Shini, a Vrishni chief, was there to take Devaki away for Vasudeva. Somadatta, prince of the Bahlikas, contested it.
Shini beat him, and did not stop at beating him.
He seized Somadatta by the hair, threw him down, and kicked him, in the middle of a field of assembled kings, thousands of them, watching.
Then he took Devaki and left.
