Tales of the Gods

Protect Me, Eat Him

Some of them shouted "let us protect him" and some shouted "let us eat him." The ones who offered protection became the rakshasas.

The rakshasas were named for a sentence somebody shouted, and the sentence was not theirs.

Brahma was working through the creation and it was not going smoothly. The Bhagavata's third canto describes him trying form after form, discarding what did not work.
